The incident at the Denver International Airport occurred shortly after Flight 1006, en route from Colorado Springs to Dallas Fort Worth, safely landed at approximately 5:15 p.m. Mountain time Thursday, March 13 due to reported engine vibrations, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
After reaching the gate, an engine on the Boeing 737-800 ignited, prompting the deployment of emergency slides for passenger evacuation.
Photos and videos shared by news outlets depicted passengers standing on the wing amid smoke.
The 172 passengers and six crew members were subsequently taken to the terminal. The 12 injuries were described as minor in a statement by the Denver International Airport.
The FAA is investigating the incident.
